This milled aluminum wheel is 6" by 2.25". It is bored for a 3/4" shaft and 3/16" key way. Key is not included. This wheel is NOT called for in the No Weld Grinder Plans. That is the 5/8" bore.
However you CAN USE THIS WHEEL with some very slight changes to the plans. You will need to use a 3/4" drive shaft and 3/4" pillow block bearings and that is it. Easy mod.
The advantages to using this size wheel is the larger mass helps keep the belt moving under load and speeds things up 50%. Faster isn't always better in knife grinding but these grinders are being used in other applications also where speed matters.
This power drive wheel is the same and many home made grinders use this size shaft coupled directly to a motor shaft for a 2 wheel grinder or their own Frankenstein design.
