The Ulu blade has been around for thousands of years across every continent and civilization.
There are several different versions of the Ulu. Today, an Ulu is often thought of as a skinner
but the versatility might surprise you.
These Ulu blade blanks are waterjet cut to our drawings from 440C. This steel is
probably the most widely used knife steel in the world for a reason. It has a great
balance of toughness, edge holding and corrosion resistance.
The blade blank is not heat treated. This steel has been sandblasted to descale forging
scale. These blanks are not bare steel. You will need to sand the blanks a bit to get to
bare metal.
The holes in these Ulu's will fit one of our Corby style bolts for attaching handle material
securely. Traditional Ulu's are often found with antler handles or drift wood for handles.
There isn't anything wrong with you using fancy stabilized woods or even colored G10
for handles to dress up your Ulu knife project.
