These quality leather washers are much thicker than you typically see elsewhere. They are punched for us from vegetable tanned leather. Generally, you should plan on nearly 30% to 40% compression when forming your leather handle. For a 5" handle, you would need to use about 35 washers in an 8/9oz size to take into account the compression when wet.
