WHAT IS SMOOTH-KOTE? | ||
A fast-drying lubricant and bore treatment that molecularly bonds to metal protecting against friction and wear. This revolutionary product is based on molybdenum disulfide technology. The passivated, sub-micron particles bond to metals for long-lasting lubrication from -65?F to +650?F and prevents residue build-up. The bonded lubrication dramatically reduces fouling thereby enhancing accuracy, bullet velocity and reliability. SMOOTH-KOTE eliminates grime with advanced non-stick dry protection that repels dirt, and allows metal fouling and powder residue to be brushed right off. SMOOTH-KOTE is a high-performance, dry film-lubricating replacement for gun oils and bore treatments. It is a proprietary mix of the best and purest available dry film lubricants in fast-drying, residue-free isopropyl alcohol (the same as found in rubbing alcohol). These lubricants have a natural bonding affinity for metal. Sentry's formulation takes advantage of a synergy among these lubricants to deliver performance superior to the individual ingredients alone. Isopropyl alcohol is the carrier for the lubricants and provides cleaning action, then evaporates, allowing the lubricants to bond to the pores in the clean metal surface. This bonding assures long lasting effectiveness. SMOOTH-KOTE 's molecular bonding is in part, due to its sub-micron particles. This is in sharp contrast to other moly containing products on the market which rely on the pressure between surfaces to force sub-standard moly into the metal surface. Sentry Solutions uses three different forms of molybdenum disulfide in its specialty firearms lubricants: SMOOTH-KOTE , BP2000 Powder and HI-SLIP GREASE. Each form of moly is the highest purity available but we vary the particle size to attain different bonding characteristics and functionality. SMOOTH-KOTE is easily applied to all the interior surfaces of firearms; in addition to lubrication, it gives surfaces a non-stick coating that not only keeps dirt and residues from adhering, but also makes cleaning simple. SMOOTH-KOTE is superior to oil and silicone because it works when dry - and thus will not attract and hold dirt. As a bore treatment, SMOOTH-KOTE "smoothes the rough spots", thus enhancing velocity and minimizing fouling - without compromising accuracy. The bonding action of SMOOTH-KOTE ensures a uniform coating in all barrels and so maintains any barrel's even interior diameter. Superior to TEFLON (R) containing products which embed in metal rather than bond. Embedding prevents such products from maintaining a barrel's diameter and so degrades accuracy even if they reduce fouling. A bore treatment needs to do more than just reduce fouling and lubricate to enhance any firearm's accuracy. SMOOTH-KOTE in any bore will increase the number of rounds fired before any fouling has a chance to occur. | ||
DIRECTIONS: | ||
BEFORE BEGINNING, ENSURE THE FIREARM IS UNLOADED AND THAT THERE IS NO LIVE AMMUNITION AT HAND.
NOTE: If using lead ammo, bore may be cleaned using a bronze brush or if needed, bore solvent. Then re-treat bore with SMOOTH-KOTE see directions above. NOTE: SMOOTH-KOTE liquid will stain fabrics and other porous surfaces with which it may come into contact. Use the same caution as when working with indelible ink. Waterless or powdered hand cleaners do a good job cleaning skin and fabric, etc. Additional Instructions: SMOOTH-KOTE improves bore interior smoothness. Proper application of this product provides a bonded layer of lubricating crystals on the bore's interior. These crystals offer several advantages:

To maintain: use nylon bristle brush to clean surfaces & bore. Patching out the bore is also effective. Then touch-up wearing surfaces with SMOOTH-KOTE. To touch up the bore run a clean patch wet (but not dripping) with SMOOTH-KOTE. Midwest Knifemakers Supply, LLC knife and gun maintenance supplies |
