Nickel 201 Alloy

Use nickel for high contrast layers in damascus. It welds easily and will stay bright and shiny when you etch your damascus.

Note: Nickel will not harden with heat treatment. If there are thick layers of nickel at the cutting edge of your blade, it can negatively effect sharpness and edge holding. You can avoid this by making san mai damascus with hard steel at the core and steel and nickel on the sides or by making high layer damascus using thin nickel sheet.

This Nickel 201 is a nearly pure alloy.
