Lightening Striker Carbon Fiber

We have this custom fabricated for us.

This is 2x2 twill weave carbon fiber with bronze wires running in both weave and warp. This is military aerospace design to reduce damage to aircraft from lightening strikes. This makes an insanely cool handle material.

In the picture, you can see a close up of the wire and CF weave in the oval shape inset.

Tip: Working with carbon fiber is a different than g10. We suggest wearing gloves to keep the very small, sharp fibers from becoming an irritant. Always wear a respirator when sanding. The CF dust is so fine it will seem to stain your skin even after vigorous hand washing.

Tip: Sand it with fresh, sharp belts to shape. When taking it to a finish, sand with progressively smaller grits and then buff lightly as you would with fine furniture wood. This material can take a high polish but a scratch free satin finish really shows off the CF look better.
