A vertical forge, in the Don Fogg style, these are popular for making damascus. The benefit comes from a large chamber with small openings, retaining more heat inside. The bottom panel, underneath, is removable to easily replace the bottom insulation. The bottom is often covered by a layer of kitty litter, which absorbs flux and scale. 16″ diameter × 16″ tall w/ 2″ insulation on sides, 3″ insulation on top.
