8670 Bar Stock Steel .125" Thickness - See Length Note
8670 is an extremely tough Carbon steel commonly used for large bandsaw blades found in the lumber industry. The nickel content along with the carbon content creates a very durable steel that also can hold a strong edge. It will be a great steel for big choppers and hard use blades
LENGTH NOTE:
We buy this in 36" lengths and sell it in 12", 24", and 36" lengths.
If you buy 1ea, you will get a stick 12" long by the width and thickness shown.
If you buy 2, you will get a bar that is 24" in length.
If you buy 3, you will get a bar that is 36" in length.
**If you buy 2 or 3 and want it cut into 12" length pieces, please specify in the comments section that you would like them cut into 12" pieces.

This steel is Hot Rolled (HR) and comes fully annealed
Chemical makeup of our 8670 alloy:
C = .64/.75
Ni = .70/1.00
Cr = .30/.50
Mo = .05/.10
Mn = .40/.60
Si = .20/.35
S =0.025 max
P = 0.025 max
Heat Treatment for 8670 Carbon Steel
Place blade in forge or Heat treat oven pre-heated to Austenitizing temp 1500°F (soak for 5 - 10 minutes if using a heat treat oven)
Quench in fast oil like Park's 50
Temper between 350° to 400°F twice for 2 hours each time. Cool to room temperature in between tempers.
This Should give a hardness of 60-62 HRC
