Machinable general purpose 430 stainless steel sheets and plates have excellent machinability for cutting, bending, and forming. They are used where corrosion resistance is more important than strength. Typical applications include sinks, gutters, roofing, mufflers, combustion chambers, and other architectural and automotive applications.
This does not harden, but would work great as a bolster, guard or pommel. High Corrosion resistance and formability make it a viable choice for decorative or structural furniture on a knife. Commonly sold as 18/0 stainless for basic, non-sharpened table cutlery.
