  Dial Indicator and Magnetic Base

Fine Adjustment model has an additional adjustment on one of the arms to help zero in your indicator.

On/off switch controls strong permanent magnet. Complete with "v" area for clamping to round surfaces, 3" diameter dial holding rod with swivel adapter for lug back indicator to accept all AGD dial indicators, upright, swivel clamp, universal swivel attachment, and scriber.

The dial indicator has 1" of travel and indicates to .001" precision.
Adjustable bezel face locks with knurled set screw.
Roller ball end point.

Tip: Most knife makers use this to drill to a specific depth. To use these on your drill press:
1. Set the mag indicator on your drill press table. Turn on the magnet.
2. Bring the drill press with drill bit (counter bore, what ever) into position (off please) so the drill bit tip is just touching the work. This is your "zero" point.
3. adjust the arms so the point of the dial indicator is now touching the drill press in such a way when the drill press head (quill) moves up and down, it will deflect the dial indicator. Make sure the indicator is straight up and down with the motion or your reading will be off.
4. With the drill press down (off still) and as far down as it can go, adjust the bezel (round outer ring) on the dial indicator to set your needle to zero. You are now "zeroe'd in"
5. Start drilling and watch the dial as it moves with the drill press head. Stop when you hit your desired depth.

It took longer to type that than it does to set up once you figure out where your indicator needs to touch the drill press. Alternatively, use the magnetic clamp on your drill press head and set the indicator point on the drill press table.

Brain freeze warning!: Don't mag clamp this to anything that will spin around when you turn on your drill press. Spin the quill by hand once around to make sure.

Tip: Another popular use for these is as a poor mans depth indicator. Imagine you need your folder blade to be exactly .120" thick. Using a flat surface, set your indicator to zero on the flat surface. Slide your blade under the indicator as you take off material to check thickness as you "walk in" the thickness to .120" This is much quicker than using a caliper or micrometer.

Great and well worth the money
I purchased this to check the runout on my drill press and for set up to be sure when drilling for Cordy bolts my setup was dead on. Works great! It is also good to take when getting ready to purchase a used piece of equipment like a drill press, lathe, or mill. The magnet is strong and setup is easy and stable.
