ITC-213 Ceramic Coating 1 Pint

An Outstanding product especially formulated to protect metals and graphite, including those exposed to molten metals.  It helps to prevent stainless steel and steel parts from erosion, oxidation and fatigue from prolonged use.  Use also to repair damaged areas.

ITC 213 will protect all metal parts from oxidation or reduction and other harsh environments such as high temperatures and proximity to molten metals, molten glass or glazes.

PREPARE SURFACE:  Remove all loose rust layers, grease, dirt and molten metal build-up.  If possible, roughen surface to be coated by using a file or hacksaw blade.  Sandblasting is NOT recommended.  Wash surface with a 1:1 solution of liquid Colorx Bleach and water.

APPLY: Mix coating thoroughly.  The best results are obtained by using a paint edger or a piece of cloth dipped into the ITC 213 and then vigorously rubbing the coating onto the surface as thinly as possible.  A spray gun can be used for applications on large surfaces.  Spray guns are available from ITC.

COVERAGE: 150 to 250 sq. ft. per gallon.

**Use with other ITC products in order shown on ITC Problem Solving Chart (below)

ELECTRICAL ELEMENTS: New elements have a greasy residue left from the wire manufacturing process, which may cause the ITC 213 to flake off if not removed.  One method is to pre-fire elements after stretching for 5 to 10 minutes to achieve at least cherry-red glow.  If this is not possible, the elements can be heated in a furnace or kiln at 700 degrees fahrenheit  for 30 minutes.  Allow to cool.

The ITC 213 can be applied as described above or can be applied by dipping.  Using a wide shallow pan, empty the ITC 213 into a pan and add 1/4 water, mixing well.  Dip the entire element except for the lead wire into the ITC 213 mixture.  After dipping, shake the element to remove the excess coating and hang to dry for several hours or overnight.  The elements are now ready to install.
