Mesquite Burl Scale Slab
- 1 Piece - this does not come in a set
Mesquite Burl is a cousin of Dessert Ironwood Burl that is becoming impossible to source. This very hard, dense wood has tight burl pattern through out. This material takes an exceptional finish. These pieces will have worm holes and voids.
Tip: Use Danish or Tung Oil to bring out the contrast and give the wood a 3D (chatoyance) look. When you have it mounted and you are done sanding, apply your oil for 30 minutes or until the wood stops soaking up the oil. Set it aside to dry. Occasionally wipe off the oil as some weeps back out. Let it dry a few days (I know, who can wait that long?) and then give it a good buffing with a quality hard wax.
