Eyelets for Kydex(tm), Concealex(tm), Boltaron(tm)

Eyelets are used for Concealex or other thermal molding plastic.

You will need a rivet or eyelet setter to get a good finish. You often hear these referred to as kydex rivets which is technically incorrect but we really don't care about that kind of stuff. These act like rivets when they join material so in one sense it is correct. You may also hear them referred to as tubular rivets.

We thought we could get better quality eyelets than we were finding. We did. We went to Siska, one of the best in the US and sent them some samples of Concealex to join for us and recommend sizes and types.  (You can see the sample joined pieces in the picture.) I'd invite you compare the quality of these eyelets to what you are using now. I think you will find these to be very good quality.

The base metal is brass. The Black Oxide and Nickel finishes are the same brass eyelets we had custom plated.

About the picture: There is a lot going on here.
3 finishes in 2 sizes are visible. On the left side are the S-61 eyelets in brass, plated Black Oxide and plated Nickel. These go in a .25" hole. On the right side of the picture is the S-35l eyelets. These fit in a 3/16" hole.
On the left side is the top side of the finished eyelet, on the right side what the back side should look like properly done. On the left side is two .093" pieces of Concealex joined. On the right is two pieces of .063" joined.

Use the hand setting tools we have here. We are also working on having a custom batch run of press dies made that you can use in a hand arbor press. These eyelets will work with the knifekits.com #6 and #8 eyelet die sets.

tip: Using a piece of thin leather or cloth on top of your rivet set (anvil) tool when setting black (or nickel) plated rivets will help reduce scratching the coating.

tip: Generally, when you join 3 more pieces of Conceleax, most sheath makers switch to Post screws. These are also called Chicago screws and we sell them here. I generally use a mixture of both eyelets and post screws on one sheath. I use the post screw(s) to bolt on a sheath clip and also at the throat of the sheath adjust the opening pressure.
